Walking around and visiting the various memorial sites in Paris yesterday I was struck by how beautiful the random assemblage of candles and other small items is when viewed from above. If we look closely we can note the passage of time: the candles are melting or melted and many of the items have been seen better days which, at first made me sad. However, if we look down on each small collection of items the ravages of time seem to slip away and we are left with a colourful array of thoughts and memories. I guess it’s all just a matter of how you look at things.
